Coloboma of the iris
There is a slit-like inferior opening in the iris (coloboma), resulting in the characteristic keyhole shape.
Colobomas may be congenital (due to incomplete closure of the embryonic fissure) or acquired (e.g. from trauma or surgery). Depending on the location and extent of a coloboma, it may be asymptomatic or lead to visual impairment (e.g. reduced visual field, increased light sensitivity, diplopia)
